Earth enjoys full moon close-up

We were wondering if it was possible that the moon actually seemed bigger...it was dynamite up here in PA.

it does appear bigger, but most of the time when we see the moon as 'big' it is because it is close to the horizon - an optical illusion.

it was closer, but not by huge amounts (some 14%).

it looked great here in d.c. as well.
